عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

Transliteration: ʿAbasa wa tawallā An jā’ahu al-aʿmā Wa mā yudrīka laʿallahu yazzakkā Aw yadhdhakkaru fatanfaʿahu adh-dhikrā.

Translation: He frowned and turned away, because the blind man approached him. And do you know, maybe he seeks to purify himself, or take admonition, and the admonition may benefit him.

فَمَنْ حَاجَّكَ فِيهِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ فَقُلْ تَعَالَوْا نَدْعُ أَبْنَاءَنَا وَأَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَنِسَاءنَا وَنِسَاءكُمْ وَأَنفُسَنَا وأَنفُسَكُمْ ثُمَّ نَبْتَهِلْ فَنَجْعَل لَّعْنَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَاذِبِينَ

Transliteration: Fa-man ḥājjaka fīhi min baʿdi mā jā’aka mina al-ʿilmi fa-qul taʿālaw nadʿu abnā’anā wa abnā’akum wa nisā’anā wa nisā’akum wa anfusanā wa anfusakum, thumma nabtahil fa-najʿal laʿnata Allāhi ʿala al-kādhibīn.

Translation: Should anyone argue with you concerning him, after the knowledge that has come to you, say, ‘Come! Let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, our souls and your souls, then let us pray earnestly and call down Allah’s curse upon the liars.’

هُوَ الَّذِيَ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ آيَاتٌ مُّحْكَمَاتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ ابْتِغَاء الْفِتْنَةِ وَابْتِغَاء تَأْوِيلِهِ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَالرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ رَبِّنَا وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلاَّ أُوْلُواْ الأَلْبَابِ

Transliteration: Huwa alladhī anzala ʿalayka al-kitāba minhu āyātun muḥkamātun hunna ummu al-kitāb wa ukharu mutashābihāt. Fa-ammā alladhīna fī qulūbihim zayghun fa-yattabiʿūna mā tashābaha minhu ibtighā’a al-fitnah wa ibtighā’a ta’wīlih. Wa mā yaʿlamu ta’wīlahu illā Allāh. Wa ar-rāsikhūna fī al-ʿilm yaqūlūna āmannā bih, kullun min ʿindi rabbinā; wa mā yadhdhakkaru illā ulū al-albāb.

Translation: It is He who has sent down to you the Book, of which there are definitive verses, which are the mother of the Book, and others are metaphorical. As for those in whose hearts is deviance, they pursue what is metaphorical in it, seeking to cause sedition and to interpret it [according to their desire]. Yet no one knows its interpretation except Allah. And those firmly grounded in knowledge say, “We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord.” And none takes admonition except those who possess intellect.

وَقَرْنَ فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَأَقِمْنَ الصَّلَاةَ وَآتِينَ الزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِعْنَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا

Transliteration: Wa qarna fi buyutikunna wa la tabarrajna tabarruja al-jahiliyyati al-ula wa aqimna as-salata wa atiyna az-zakata wa ati'na Allaha wa rasulahu innama yuridu Allahu li-yudhiba 'ankumu ar-rijsa ahla al-bayti wa yutahhirakum tathiran

Translation: Stay in your houses, and do not flaunt your finery like the former [days of] ignorance. Maintain the prayer and give the zakāt, and obey Allah and His Apostle. Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification.

إِنَّا عَرَضْنَا الأَمَانَةَ عَلَى السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَالْجِبَالِ فَأَبَيْنَ أَن يَحْمِلْنَهَا وَأَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا الإِنسَانُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ ظَلُومًا جَهُولا
لِيُعَذِّبَ اللَّهُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ وَالْمُشْرِكَاتِ وَيَتُوبَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

Transliteration: Innā ʿaraḍnā al-amānata ʿalā as-samāwāti wa al-arḍi wa al-jibāl, fa-abayna an yaḥmilnahā wa ashfaqna minhā wa ḥamalahā al-insān, innahu kāna ẓalūman jahūlā. Liyuʿadhdhiba Allāhu al-munāfiqīna wa al-munāfiqāti wa al-mushrikīna wa al-mushrikāti wa yatūba Allāhu ʿala al-mu’minīna wa al-mu’mināti, wa kāna Allāhu ghafūran raḥīmā.

Translation: Indeed We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to bear it and were apprehensive of it; but man undertook it. Indeed he is most unjust and ignorant. So that Allah may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the polytheists, men and women, and that Allah may turn clemently to the faithful, men and women, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ
إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ

Transliteration: Wujūhun yawma’idhin nāḍirah, Ilā rabbihā nāẓirah. Wa wujūhun yawma’idhin bāsirah

Translation: Some faces on that day will be radiant, looking at their Lord. And (some) faces on that day will be scowling.

Key Themes:

وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُواْ بَلَى شَهِدْنَا أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَذَا غَافِلِينَ

Transliteration: Wa idh akhadha rabbuka min banī Ādama min ẓuhūrihim dhurriyyatahum wa ashhadahum ʿalā anfusihim: alastu birabbikum? Qālū: balā shahidnā, an taqūlū yawma al-qiyāmati innā kunnā ʿan hādhā ghāfilīn.

Translation: When your Lord took from the Children of Adam—from their loins—their descendants and made them bear witness over themselves, [He said,] ‘Am I not your Lord?’ They said, ‘Yes, we bear witness.’ Lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, ‘Indeed we were unaware of this.'

Key Themes:

وَإِذِ ابْتَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمَاتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا ۖ قَالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ

Transliteration: Wa idhi ibtala Ibrahima rabbuhu bi-kalimatin fa-atammahunna qala inni ja'iluka li'n-nasi imaman qala wa min dhurriyyati qala la yanalu 'ahdi az-zalimin

Translation: When his Lord tested Abraham with certain words, and he fulfilled them, He said, 'I am making you the Imam of mankind.' Said he, 'And from among my descendants?' He said, 'My pledge does not extend to the unjust.'

Key Themes:

وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُواْ شُهَدَاء عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الْقِبْلَةَ الَّتِي كُنتَ عَلَيْهَا إِلاَّ لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ الرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَإِن كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلاَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ هَدَى اللَّهُ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَؤُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Transliteration: Wa kadhālika jaʿalnākum ummahtan wasaṭan litakūnū shuhadāʾa ʿalā an-nāsi wa yakūna ar-rasūlu ʿalaykum shahīdā, wa mā jaʿalnā al-qiblah allatī kunta ʿalayhā illā linaʿlama man yattabiʿu ar-rasūla mimman yanqalibu ʿalā ʿaqibayh. Wa in kānat la-kabīratan illā ʿalā alladhīna hadā Allāh, wa mā kāna Allāhu liyuḍīʿa īmānakum. Inna Allāha bi-n-nāsi la-raʾūfun raḥīm.

Translation: Thus We made you a middle nation that you may be witnesses to the people and that the Apostle may be a witness to you. We did not appoint the Qiblah which you used to face but that We might know those who follow the Apostle from those who turn back on their heels. And it was indeed a hard test except for those whom Allah has guided. And Allah would never let your faith go to waste. Indeed Allah is most kind and merciful to mankind.

Key Themes:

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَاء مَرْضَاتِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ رَؤُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ

Transliteration: Wa mina an-nāsi man yashrī nafsahu ibtighā’a marḍāti Allāh, wa-Allāhu ra’ūfun bi-l-ʿibād.

Translation: Among the people is he who sells his soul seeking Allah’s pleasure, and Allah is most kind to (His) servants.

Key Themes:

إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا لِّيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ وَيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكَ وَيَهْدِيَكَ صِرَاطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا وَيَنصُرَكَ اللَّهُ نَصْرًا عَزِيزًا

Transliteration: Innā fataḥnā laka fatḥan mubīnā liyaghfira laka llāhu mā taqaddama min dhambika wa mā ta’akhkhara wa yutimma ni‘matahu ‘alayka wa yahdiyaka ṣirāṭan mustaqīmā wa yanṣuraka llāhu naṣran ‘azīzā

Translation: Indeed We have inaugurated for you a manifest victory, that Allah may forgive you what is past of your sin and what is to come, and complete His blessing upon you, and guide you on a straight path, and that Allah may help you with a mighty help.

Key Themes:

يَوْمَ نَدْعُو كُلَّ أُنَاسٍ بِإِمَامِهِمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَأُولَٰئِكَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابَهُمْ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا

Transliteration: Yawma nad'u kulla unasin bi-imamihim fa-man utiya kitabahu bi-yaminihi fa-ula'ika yaqra'una kitabahum wa la yuzlamuna fatilan

Translation: The day We shall call every group of people with their Imam. So whoever is given his book in his right hand—they will read their book, and they will not be wronged [so much as] a single date-thread.

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ الْخِنزِيرِ وَمَا أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ بِهِ وَالْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَالْمَوْقُوذَةُ وَالْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَالنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَا أَكَلَ السَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسْتَقْسِمُوا بِالْأَزْلَامِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌ ۗ الْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن دِينِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَاخْشَوْنِ ۚ الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا ۚ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ ۙ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Transliteration: Hurrimat 'alaykumu al-maytatu wa ad-damu wa lahmu al-khinziri wa ma uhilla li-ghayri Allahi bihi wa al-munkhaniqatu wa al-mawqudhathu wa al-mutaraddiyatu wa an-natihatu wa ma akala as-sabu'u illa ma dhakkaytum wa ma dhubiha 'ala an-nusubi wa an tastaqsimu bil-azlami dhalikum fisqun al-yawma ya'isa alladhina kafaru min dinikum fala takhshawhum wa akhshawni al-yawma akmaltu lakum dinakum wa atmamtu 'alaykum ni'mati wa raditu lakumu al-islama dinan fa-mani idturra fi makhmasatin ghayra mutajanifin li-ithmin fa-inna Allahu ghafurun rahim

Translation: Forbidden to you is carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been offered to other than Allah, and the animal that has been strangled, or beaten to death, or died by falling, or was gored, or devoured by a beast—excepting what you have [properly] slaughtered—and that which is sacrificed on stone altars, and [you are forbidden] to divide meat by raffling with arrows: that is an outrage. Today the faithless have despaired of your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have approved Islam as your religion. But should anyone be compelled by hunger, without inclining to sin, then Allah is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful.

Key Themes:

يَا أَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ وَجَٰهِدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū ittaqū Allāha wa-abtaghū ilayhi al-wasīlata wa-jāhidū fī sabīlihi laʿallakum tufliḥūn

Translation: O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah, and seek the means of recourse to Him, and wage jihad in His way so that you may be felicitous.

إِنَّمَا وَلِيُّكُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ رَاكِعُونَ

Transliteration: Innama waliyyukumu Allahu wa rasuluhu wa'lladhina amanu'lladhina yuqimuna's-salata wa yu'tuna'z-zakata wa hum raki'un

Translation: Your waliyy (guardian) is only Allah, His Apostle, and those who believe who maintain the prayer and give the zakāt while bowing down.

Key Themes:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ فَاغْسِلُواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُواْ بِرُؤُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُواْ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَى أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاء فَلَمْ تَجِدُواْ مَاء فَتَيَمَّمُواْ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَامْسَحُواْ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُم مِّنْهُ مَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū idhā qumtum ilā aṣ-ṣalāti faghhsilū wujūhakum wa aydiyakum ilā al-marāfiq, wa imsaḥū biru’ūsikum wa arjulakum ilā al-kaʿbayn. Wa in kuntum junuban fa-iṭṭahharū. Wa in kuntum marḍā aw ʿalā safarin aw jā’a aḥadun minkum mina al-ghā’iṭ aw lāmastumu an-nisā’, fa-lam tajidū mā’an fatayammamū ṣaʿīdan ṭayyiban fa-imsaḥū bi-wujūhikum wa aydīkum minhu. Mā yurīdu Allāhu li-yajʿala ʿalaykum min ḥaraj, wa lākin yurīdu li-yuṭahhirakum wa li-yutimm niʿmatahu ʿalaykum laʿallakum tashkurūn.

Translation: O you who have faith! When you stand up for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads, and your feet up to the ankles. And if you are in a state of ritual impurity, then purify yourselves. But if you are sick, or on a journey, or one of you comes from the toilet, or you have touched women, and you do not find any water, then take clean earth and wipe your faces and hands with it. Allah does not desire to cause you hardship, but He desires to purify you and complete His blessing upon you so that you may give thanks.

Key Themes:

يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ

Transliteration: Ya ayyuha ar-rasulu balligh ma unzila ilayka min rabbika wa in lam taf'al fama ballaghta risalatahu wa Allahu ya'simuka min an-nasi inna Allaha la yahdi al-qawm al-kafirin.

Translation: O Apostle! Communicate that which has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do not, you will not have communicated His message. Allah shall protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the faithless lot.

Key Themes:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا

Transliteration: Ya ayyuha alladhina amanu ati'u Allaha wa ati'u ar-rasula wa uli al-amri minkum fa-in tanaza'tum fi shay'in fa-rudduhu ila Allahi wa ar-rasuli in kuntum tu'minuna billahi wa al-yawmi al-akhiri dhalika khayrun wa ahsanu ta'wilan

Translation: O you who have faith! Obey Allah and obey the Apostle and those vested with authority among you. And if you dispute concerning anything, refer it to Allah and the Apostle, if you have faith in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and more favorable in outcome.

Key Themes:

اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ مَثَلُ نُورِهِ كَمِشْكَاةٍ فِيهَا مِصْبَاحٌ الْمِصْبَاحُ فِي زُجَاجَةٍ الزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوْكَبٌ دُرِّيٌّ يُوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ زَيْتُونَةٍ لّا شَرْقِيَّةٍ وَلا غَرْبِيَّةٍ يَكَادُ زَيْتُهَا يُضِيءُ وَلَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نَارٌ نُّورٌ عَلَى نُورٍ يَهْدِي اللَّهُ لِنُورِهِ مَن يَشَاء وَيَضْرِبُ اللَّهُ الأَمْثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَن تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ فِيهَا بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ

Transliteration: Allāhu nūru as-samāwāti wa al-arḍ. Mathalu nūrihi ka-mishkātin fīhā miṣbāḥ, al-miṣbāḥu fī zujājah, az-zujājatu ka-annahā kawkabun durrīy, yūqadu min shajaratin mubārakah zaytūnah, lā sharqiyyatin wa lā gharbiyyah, yakādu zaytuhā yuḍī’u wa law lam tamsashhu nār. Nūrun ʿalā nūr, yahdī Allāhu li-nūrihi man yashā’, wa yaḍribullāhu al-amthāla li-n-nās, wa Allāhu bi-kulli shay’in ʿalīm. Fī buyūtin adhina Allāhu an turfaʿa wa yudhkara fīhā ismuh, yusabbiḥu lahu fīhā bil-ghudūwi wa al-āṣāl.

Translation: Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His light is a niche wherein is a lamp—the lamp is in a glass, the glass as if it were a glittering star—lit from a blessed olive tree, neither eastern nor western, whose oil almost lights up, though fire should not touch it. Light upon light! Allah guides to His light whomever He wishes. Allah draws parables for mankind, and Allah has knowledge of all things. In houses Allah has allowed to be raised and wherein His Name is celebrated; He is glorified therein, morning and evening.

Key Themes:

وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَسْتَ مُرْسَلاً قُلْ كَفَى بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْكِتَابِ

Transliteration: Wa yaqūlu alladhīna kafarū lasta mursalan, qul kafā bi-llāhi shahīdan baynī wa baynakum wa man ʿindahu ʿilmu al-kitāb.

Translation: The faithless say, ‘You have not been sent (by Allah).’ Say, ‘Allah suffices as a witness between me and you, and he who possesses the knowledge of the Book.’

ذَلِكَ الَّذِي يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ قُل لّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلاَّ الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُ فِيهَا حُسْنًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ 23

Transliteration: Dhālika alladhī yubashshirullāhu ʿibādahu alladhīna āmanū wa ʿamilū aṣ-ṣāliḥāt. Qul lā as’alukum ʿalayhi ajran illā al-mawaddata fī al-qurbā. Wa man yaqtarif ḥasanatan nazid lahu fīhā ḥusnā; inna Allāha ghafūrun shakūr.

Translation: That is the good news Allah gives to His servants who have faith and do righteous deeds. Say, ‘I do not ask you any reward for it except love of [my] relatives.’ And whoever performs a good deed, We shall enhance for him its goodness. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-appreciative.

يَا أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَآ أَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ لَكَ ۖ تَبْتَغِى مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَٰجِكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ قَدْ فَرَضَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ تَحِلَّةَ أَيْمَـٰنِكُمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

Transliteration: Yā ayyuhā an-nabiyyu lima tuḥarrimu mā aḥalla Allāhu laka tabtaghī marḍāta azwājik, wa-Allāhu ghafūrun raḥīm. Qad faraḍa Allāhu lakum taḥillata aymānikum, wa-Allāhu mawlākum, wa huwa al-ʿalīmu al-ḥakīm.

Translation: O Prophet! Why do you forbid what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful. Allah has certainly sanctioned for you the absolution of your oaths, and Allah is your master, and He is the All-knowing, the All-wise.

وَالسَّابِقُونَ الْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَانٍ رَّضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي تَحْتَهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

Transliteration: Was-sābiqūna al-awwalūna mina al-muhājirīna wal-anṣāri wa alladhīna ittabaʿūhum bi-iḥsān, raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhum wa raḍū ʿanhu, wa aʿadda lahum jannātin tajrī taḥtahā al-anhāru khālidīna fīhā abadan, dhālika al-fawzu al-ʿaẓīm.

Translation: The early vanguard of the Emigrants and the Helpers and those who followed them in virtue—Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever]. That is the great success.

إِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اللَّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ثَانِىَ ٱثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِى ٱلْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَـٰحِبِهِۦ لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَنَا ۖ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُۥ بِجُنُودٍۢ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ٱلسُّفْلَىٰ ۗ وَكَلِمَةُ ٱللَّهِ هِىَ ٱلْعُلْيَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ 40

Transliteration: Illā tanṣurūhu faqad naṣarahu Allāhu idh akhrajahu alladhīna kafarū thāniya ithnayn, idh humā fī al-ghār, idh yaqūlu li-ṣāḥibihi: lā taḥzan inna Allāha maʿanā. Fa-anzala Allāhu sakīnatahu ʿalayhi, wa ayyadahu bijunūdin lam tarawhā, wa jaʿala kalimata alladhīna kafarū as-suflā, wa kalimatu Allāhi hiya al-ʿulyā, wa Allāhu ʿazīzun ḥakīm.

Translation: If you do not help him, Allah has already helped him when the faithless expelled him, and he was one of the two, when the two were in the cave, he said to his companion, ‘Do not grieve; Allah is indeed with us.’ Then Allah sent down His composure upon him, and strengthened him with hosts you did not see, and He made the word of the faithless the lowest, and the word of Allah is the highest; and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.

إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ
فِي كِتَابٍ مَّكْنُونٍ
لّا يَمَسُّهُ إِلاَّ الْمُطَهَّرُونَ

Transliteration: Innahu la-qur’ānun karīm. Fī kitābin maknūn. Lā yamassuhu illā al-muṭahharūn.

Translation: Indeed it is a noble Qur’an, in a guarded Book, which none touches except the purified.

فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَاتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَرَقِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ

Transliteration: Fa-akalā minhā fa-badat lahumā saw’ātuhumā, wa ṭafiqā yakhṣifāni ʿalayhimā min waraqi al-jannah. Wa ʿaṣā Ādamu rabbahu faghawā.

Translation: So they ate from it, whereupon their nakedness became visible to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of paradise. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went astray.
