وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُواْ شُهَدَاء عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الْقِبْلَةَ الَّتِي كُنتَ عَلَيْهَا إِلاَّ لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ الرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَإِن كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلاَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ هَدَى اللَّهُ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَؤُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Transliteration:
Wa kadhālika jaʿalnākum ummahtan wasaṭan litakūnū shuhadāʾa ʿalā an-nāsi wa yakūna ar-rasūlu ʿalaykum shahīdā, wa mā jaʿalnā al-qiblah allatī kunta ʿalayhā illā linaʿlama man yattabiʿu ar-rasūla mimman yanqalibu ʿalā ʿaqibayh. Wa in kānat la-kabīratan illā ʿalā alladhīna hadā Allāh, wa mā kāna Allāhu liyuḍīʿa īmānakum. Inna Allāha bi-n-nāsi la-raʾūfun raḥīm.
Translation:
Thus We made you a middle nation that you may be witnesses to the people and that the Apostle may be a witness to you. We did not appoint the Qiblah which you used to face but that We might know those who follow the Apostle from those who turn back on their heels. And it was indeed a hard test except for those whom Allah has guided. And Allah would never let your faith go to waste. Indeed Allah is most kind and merciful to mankind.
